Michael Strobel

About

I am a Ph.D. student in computer science student advised by Professor Mingxun Wang at the University of California, Riverside. I'm currently working on applying new deep learning methods to mass spectrometry data including equivariant neural networks and large language models.

My research experience include my current work at UCR as well as my Undergradate Research Assistant with the Tiwary Group at the University of Maryland, where I completed my undergraduate degree.

Software Engineering Intern – Leidos Technology, Baltimore, MD

Contributed functionality to WebLogic application in support of FDA contract. Collaborated with configuration management team to automate builds and database deployments for other programs on the contract.
  • Wrote custom HTML and CSS to customize Oracle ADF view objects
  • Created new functionality based on user stories written by business analysts
  • Participated in user story reviews to discuss the best implementation of new requirements
  • Demonstrated new additions to the application in agile ceremonies
  • Modified existing Ansible playbooks to automate deployments
  • Prototyped Liquibase to automate database schema changes

Software Testing Intern – Leidos Technology, Baltimore, MD

Tested software performance and functionality for the FDA as a member of the software testing team.
  • Collaborated with team members to validate code and database integrity
  • Worked with developers and business analysts to develop tests based on application requirements
  • Performed build verification and functional tests to support development team
  • Performed 508 tests and made recommendations for UI enhancements
  • Reported current testing status in Agile scrums and issues to developers using Jira and weekly defect reviews

Web Development Intern – PEP, Kensington, MD

Developed a website for the nonprofit’s online initiatives in order to help them scale to a global market.
  • Updated content on existing website to promote the organization’s new online learning initiatives
  • Completed UI tweaks to enhance website clarity and appearance
  • Added Facebook tracking pixels to supply marketing team with analytics
  • Created online learning landing page
